I have a new VAIO laptop that cam pre installed with VISTA. usually they gave problems after 3 to 4 years old.  Look at the capacitors. Run chkdsk /r ./f on the partition where you are trying to repair install. I was able to boot up fine and the issue I was having before was resolved as well.   • I really do NOT want to reload the system.
  • I've disabled most everything in BIOS, pulled out most of my hardware at some time or another, and, yet, the same problem will occur every time.

I've gone through and did most of what that article has talked about, but the problem keeps happening. Advertisements do not imply our endorsement of that product or service. You may also... I've checked the setupapi.log file and I think the problem is with the storage/volume device (though I'm not really sure what this is). Good point about the CD...I have seen that exact same issue. And, yes, I've followed the instructions to most of these posts.

Yeah, 1.6 @ 2.45 stock cooling too, running under 40C under full load, I've got a coolermaster and I think it keeps things pretty cool and stable.

Maybe it's powering down and not spinning back up when it needs to.
